Last rites for Roland(Rohl) Adams 78 of Rudd were held at 2:00 Tuesday afternoon October 25 in the Sheckler funeral homes in Nora Springs and Interment was in Rock Grove Cemetary south of town. A life long resident of this community, Mr Adams died about midnight Saturday October 22 at the Cedar Valley hospital at Charles City. Although his advancing years had been accompanied by failing health, his last illness was very brief. He suffered a heart attack Saturday morning and was taken to the hospital. His death that same night was unexpected. The Rev C L Oelfke past of the Rudd Methodist Church had charge of the funeral service. Pail Stalker long time friend of the deceased, sang 2 solos, There is no secret and beyond the sunset. Mrs Ivan Bartz was the accompanist. The casket was borne by Raymond Koehler, Warren Frevert, Ernest Bass, Oscar Andresen, Paul Hanson and Royal Jacobs.
Mr Adams the youngest of eight children of Alvin and Jane Adams was born July 16, 1877 in Rock Grove township. He grew up in this township and on November 27, 1905 he was married to Victoria McKee of Nora Springs. They would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary next month.

Two daughters were born to the couple, Mrs Maude Buehler of Mason City and Mrs Victor Opal) Mathers of Nora Springs. They survive him as does his wife and five grandchildren: Clark Mathers, US Army currently serving in Okinawa, Terry Mathers at home, Lorelei, Freddie and Susan Buehler of Mason City. MRs Adams had always farmed in Rock Grove township except for 9 years in Little Cedar. He was well known in both Rudd and Nora Springs.
