Carol A. O'Donnell, 83, died peacefully Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Waverly, N.Y., on Christmas day in 1924, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Lillian Thompson Cronin. Carol was a lifelong resident of the Albany area, graduating from Albany High School, class of 1942. During World War II, she worked as a typewriter repair person in local military recruiting stations. Carol's passions were her family, friends and church. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, she was an Albany Police Crossing Guard at School 19 in Albany; later working as a clerk with the NYS Teachers Retirement Fund until her retirement in 1984. Her commitment and compassion to the Third Reformed Church and the First Congregational Church, both in Albany, will be affectionately remembered. Carol is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Edward B. O'Donnell Jr. who is now residing at the Guilderland Center Nursing Home; her three sons, Edward O'Donnell and his wife Cathy, Bill O'Donnell and his wife Victoria, and Robert O'Donnell and his wife Dawn; sister of Harold Cronin and Jeanette Klinger; grandmother of Bobby, Joe, Michael, Christopher, Jason, Shawn and Katie O'Donnell, Justin and Kara Fraim, Kristin Gabara and the late Marc L. Fraim; great-grand-mother of Alex and Ian (born February 18) O'Donnell, Madison, Lyle and Brooklynn, Gianna and Lola Fraim; sister of the late James Cronin and Mary Jane Cronin; sister-in-law of George Klinger and Rita Cronin. Carol leaves behind many loving and caring friends, whom she also considered family. Her love and commitment to marriage, family, friends and faith have been and will continue to be inspirational to all who loved and had the glory in sharing in her life.

Nine days after Carol's passing, her husband, Ed "Bud" followed her:

Edward B. (Bud) O'Donnell Jr., 85, was taken into God's loving hand Sunday, March 2, 2008 and into the waiting arms of his loving wife of 61 years, Carol A. O'Donnell, who died just this past Thursday, February 21, 2008. Born in Albany on September 29, 1922, he was the son of the late Edward and Helen Keegan O'Donnell. Ed was a lifelong resident of the Albany area, serving his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. On returning from military service, he worked for the A & P Tea Company until his retirement in 1981. Bud's passions were his family, laboring on home improvements, traditional Celtic and a wide range of music and his church. Ed is survived by his three sons, Edward O'Donnell and his wife Cathy, Bill O'Donnell and his wife Victoria, and Robert O'Donnell and his wife Dawn; brother of Helen Montysko, John O'Donnell and his wife Betty; grandfather of Bobby, Joe, Michael, Christopher, Jason, Shawn and Katie O'Donnell, Justin and Kara Fraim, Kristin Gabara and the late Marc L. Fraim; great-grandfather of Alex and Ian (born February 18) O'Donnell, Madison Lyles and Brooklynn, Gianna and Lola Fraim; brother-in-law of the late Joseph Montysko, James Cronin, Mary Jane Cronin, George Klinger and Rita Cronin. His love and commitment to marriage, family, friends and faith have been and will continue to be inspirational to all he loved. Ed and his life partner Carol's bonds of love will surely transcend into their eternal life together in heaven.

Two beautiful people, a loving couple, together eternally.

Remembering you both on your Angel days. Not a day goes by when I'm in the Sanctuary that I don't miss your presence. You are loved and missed.
