Wednesday, June 27 Elizabeth "Bette" Marie (Desnoyers) Horrigan, 87, of Largo, Fla., died on June 22, 2007, at the Hospice House Woodside, Pinellas Park, Fla., surrounded by her family.
Born on Sept 11, 1919, in Adams, she was a daughter of Aldeas and Flora (Stone) Desnoyers. She attended Notre Dame du Sacre Couer Church in North Adams and was a longtime resident of North Adams and Williamstown.
She occupied most of her life as a mother and homemaker but contributed to the World War II victory effort, while her husband was serving in the Marine Corps, by working at Gaevert's in Williamstown. Later, she worked as an inspector at the Wall Streeter Shoe Co.
She was a storyteller and family historian. She excelled at word games and crossword puzzles and was a fan of Notre Dame football and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
One of her favorite places was Las Vegas, where she celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary with her family. She spent many wonderful summers at the family camp "The Crow's Nest" on Lake St Catherine in Vermont. In 1983 she and her husband retired to Largo.
She married Bernard T. Horrigan on Sept. 2, 1939, at Notre Dame du Sacre Couer Church in Notre Adams. He died in 2003.
She leaves her son, Nick Horrigan and his wife, Lynn ( Baldessarini) Horrigan, of Burnt Hills, N.Y.; grandchildren, Shannon and Shawn Ackerman of Denver, Colo., and Keith Patrick Horrigan of Albany, N.Y.; many nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Victor and Emil Desnoyers, are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A memorial Liturgy of Christian Burial for Elizabeth Horrigan will held Friday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m., at St Francis Church in North Adams, followed by burial in Southview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers. memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL., 33760. The Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, at 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247 is in charge of arrangements.
