Deceased Name: Obituary Andrew Barboza, at 80, MBTA inspector, veteran
Andrew Barboza of Wareham, a retired inspector for the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority, died at Tobey Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 80.
Born in Falmouth, he graduated from Wentworth Institute with a degree in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration engineering. He also lived in Weymouth. For the past several years, Mr. Barboza was a resident of the Atrium Nursing Center in Middleboro.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the Marines.
He was a police officer in Falmouth and building supervisor at WHDH on Morrissey Boulevard. He was also employed as a starter operator, assistant station master and chief inspector for 18 years with the MBTA.
Mr. Barboza is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marilyn (Cory); a son, Daniel of Michigan; two daughters, Janice Fernandez of Ohio and Michelle of Wareham; five brothers, George of Falmouth, Anthony of New Bedford, Louis of Dorchester, Lawrence of Randolph and Stanley of Rhode Island; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
