Original name: Giuseppe Lacirignola Joseph Lacirignola was born in Manhattan, the son of Italian immigrants, Amalia Cocco and Vito Lacirignola. He had one sister: Angela Laciano Beyer. He changed his name to Laciano as most people had trouble pronouncing Lacirignola (la CHIN yola). He grew up in Manhattan and graduated from Harren (Commerce) High School. He enlisted in the Army during WWII. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Joey enjoyed doing carpentry work and making things such as shelves and bookcases. In the early 1940s he married Margaret Miller and they had three children: Jo-Ann (Joe) Grella, Richard (Paula) and Jimmy (Janet). He had seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
