William "Bill" Roberts, 89, of Texarkana, Texas, died Monday, October 24, 2011, at his residence.

He was born May 22, 1922, in Coffeeville, MS, to Myrtle and Thomas William Roberts.

He was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church and was retired from Red River Army Depot and a retired rancher. He was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge #341, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a United States Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Roberts; a son, Larry Roberts; and a brother, Edward Roberts.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Bertie L. Roberts; one son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Lisa Roberts of DeKalb, TX; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Roberts of Texarkana, AR; two stepsons and daughters-in-law, John and Kathy Byrd of Leon, OK, and Jim and Melinda Byrd of Susanville, CA; two grandchildren, Nicholas Roberts and Morgan Roberts; one great-granddaughter, Ella Roberts; 8 step-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mae Vick, Hazel Parham, and Thelma Thompson, all of Memphis, TN; a special friend, Kenneth Lack; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Texarkana Funeral Home Chapel, Texas, with Dr. John Webb and Rev. Kelsey Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
