The son of Leo A. and Ellamae Green Detrick. He attended the North Scranton School District. Leo and Anne Marie Anneman were married May 17, 1947 in the Holy Rosary Church, Scranton, PA. He had 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He relocated to the Corning area in 1951. Leo became employed in the Maintenance Department of Corning Inc., retiring in 1983 and at the time of his death he had 57 years (active & inactive service) with the company.
He was a member of All Saints Parish, attending Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and had served as usher for the church, a member of 18 years with the Mary and Eljah Carmelite Community, Elmira, NY., member of CGW Local 1000 and past member of the Painted Post Rod & Gun Club.
Leo was a talented, professional master caner, instructing at Corning Community College, East High School, Northside Blodgett and the Patterson Inn.
He was a carpenter contributing his talents and efforts to Habitat for Humanity and also helped his children build their homes. He was always repairing furniture for someone. He also enjoyed gardening. He was an avid collector of Railroad Memorabilia, esp. trains and also model cars.
He was the oldest of 9 children. Three brothers George, Arnold, & Ronald and five sisters Dorothy, Diane, Arlene, Marilyn, and Beverly.
He was married to his wife Anne Marie for 61 years.
