Ruben Geoffrey Gore, 70, of Mexia, passed away on April 5, 2011 at Providence Health Center in Waco. A memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Cotton Gin Cemetery with Minister Shane Alexander of­ficiating. Family visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home.
Mr. Gore was born on April 15, 1940 in Mexia, Texas to Claude William and Era Florine Jones Gore. He was a retired school teacher. After graduating high school, Mr. Gore joined the United States Army, where he was a member of the Army Band. He married Barbara S. Un­der­wood in Mexia in 1965.
His parents as well as a daughter, Dawn Michelle Gore, preceded him in death.
Mr. Gore is survived by his wife, Barbara S. Gore; children, Melissa Moreno & husband, Victor, of Gates­ville, Laura & Denise Gore of Alvin, Aaron Gore & wife, Mylissa, of Alvin, Genipher Bradley and husband, Ike, of Mexia, Paula Hendricks of Mexia; 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; sister, Cam­elia Pace & husband, Bryant, of Kilgore, brothers, Harold Gore & wife, Betty, of Denton and Jimmy Gore of Mexia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and wayward children found on the street.
