SPANISH AMERICAN WAR VETERAN

Edward Buck was born in Russellville, Arkansas on December 2, 1875. He listed his parents as Salvanus A. Buck and Margaret Anne Kern.

MILITARY RECORD:
Enlisted May 13, 1898, assigned to 2nd Arkansas Volunteers. Honorable discharge at Conway, Arkansas with rank of Sergeant. Per Mr. Buck: "My Regiment transferred to Chatanooga, Tennessee and from there to Camp Ship Anston Alabama. Mustered out February 26-99".

He married Lynna W. on May 12, 1951. Children from a prior marriage were Enda Margaret Mortin of Everett (b. 10/21/1903); Paul K. Buck of Klamath Falls, Ore. (b. 9/9/1915); James Donald Buck of Klamath Falls (b. 10/25/1907); Wm. Gordon Buck of Everett, Wa. (b. 5/11/1912); John David Buck of Everett (b. 4/6/1918); John D. Buck (unreadable entries due to notary stamp)[and Douglas Murdock Buck of Renton (b. 5/28/1917).

His regular occupation was flour mill worker. He resided in Seattle when he and Mrs. Buck became members of the Washington Veterans' Home at Retsil in September 1958. She passed away in 1959. Mr. Buck died December 18, 1964 at the Home Hospital and is buried in the cemetery there.

Edward Buck, Retsil, Native Of Arkansas, Succumbs At 89.

Edward Buck, 89, Retsil, who was born in Russellville, Ark., and moved to Seattle in 1927, died Friday. He was a retired flour mill employe and veteran of the Spanish-American War. He moved to Retsil five years ago. Survivors: Daughter, Mrs. Margaret Martin, Everett, sons, William, Douglas, both Seattle; John, Renton; Paul, Klamath Falls, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, chapel, Washington Veterans' Home. Burial WVH cemetery, direction, Pendleton-Gilchrest, Port Orchard.
