SPANISH AMERICAN WAR VETERAN
Frank was the son of Francis and Ellen (Mills) Andrews. He was born May 10, 1874 in London, England. He was five foot seven and one half inches tall and had a fair complexion. Frank came to the United States when he was about 14 years of age.
Enlisted June 17, 1898 in Pueblo, Colorado. Assigned to 1st Colorado Infantry. He was discharged as a private September 8, 1899 at San Francisco, California. Pension awarded on Certificate No. 2,319,200.
He studied at Drake University and attained a degree in theology. He then worked for years as a minister for the Christian Church.
Then attending the University of Missouri Columbia, where he received two degrees, a Master of Arts degree in 1915, then a Bachelor of science in Education degree in 1921.
He was the husband of Dorothy, who he married December 25, 1910. The couple were admitted to the Orting Soldiers' Home October 1, 1953. The couple moved near Auburn, Washington. their four children were Mrs. Ledah Hubble and Mrs. Luzells Huffman of Maysville, Missouri; Mr. Frank Andrews, Vinton, Iowa and Mrs. Eleanor Stanton, Yakima, Washington.
He retired under the Washington State Teachers' Retirement system.
He died age 86 on August 23, 1960 at Vancouver, Washington. He was cremated and buried in the Retsil Veterans' Home Cemetery.
