Birth: 1920
Death: Dec. 13, 1999

Attorney to the Stars. He was a native of New York and graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles and Harvard Law School. During his 50 years career he was known as Mickey and was prominent on the Hollywood scene. He first became known in the era of Senator Joseph McCarthy for helping with the testimony of "friendly" entertainers, who wished to avoid blacklisting. He appeared in cameo roles in four movies, twice playing a judge, leading his clients to give him the nickname "The Judge." As an entertainment lawyer he counted among his clients Lucille Ball and Desilu Productions for 25 years, Warner Brothers for 30 years, Elizabeth Taylor, Norman Lear, Liza Minnelli, and Marilyn Monroe. As Monroe's lawyer, and brother-in-law to her analyst, he was among the first on the scene at her death. He gained his most prominence from his decades as Frank Sinatra's spokesman, adviser, friend, and confidant. He handled Sinatra's divorce from Mia Farrow and had to inform him of the death of his second wife, Ava Gardner. It was often his responsibility to answer the questions regarding Sinatra's gambling interests and acquaintances with underworld figures. He filed frequent lawsuits over accounts in the news media that he saw as unflattering, unfair or infuriating. He twice sued Kitty Kelley unsuccessfully. First he sued seeking to halt publication of "My Way", her unauthorized Sinatra biography. Then he sued her for thanking Rudin as a source in her 1991 biography of Nancy Reagan where she suggested an affair between the First Lady and Sinatra. He also sued Baron's for defamation because it referred to him as Sinatra's mouthpiece. A judge dismissed the suit ruling the "average Baron's reader" would not consider the term defamatory. He died of pneumonia at a rehabilitation center near his home in Beverly Hills, Calif.
