Civil War experiences: Felix T. Hudson enlisted 31 July 1861, as Corporal in Company F, the Billy Gilmore Grays, 14th Alabama Regiment, "for the war" by Capt. Mickleberry O. Ferrell at Hickory Flat, Chambers County, Alabama. He was 15. He earned the rank of 3rd Corporal. rose to 3rd . Felix appears on the Register of the 2nd Division's Chimhorazo Hospital #4, Richmond. Virginia, admitted 6 Jan. 1862, suffering from "catarrh & fever typhoid." He returned to duty 2 March 1862. He was present for Company Muster Rolls, March, 1862 through May, 1863. He was discharged from 2nd Division Hospital, Richmond County, Virginia., on 10 June, 1863, upon habeas corpus, "he being under 18 years of age." Re-enlisted as Courier in Spring 1863 by Captain John M. McKelroy at Dalton, Whitfield County, Georgia. in Company A, 10th Confederate Cavalry until close of war. Paroled near Charlotte, North Carolina. Has parole." He re-enlisted as a courier in Company A, 10th Confederate Regiment (Cavalry) by Capt. John M. McKleroy at Dalton, Whitfield County, Georgia. Acted as Orderly for Cols T J Judge & Baine.and served until the end of the war. He was paroled at Charlotte, North Carolina., 3 May, 1865.
