TUCSON, Ariz. Zora Maxine (Six) Belcher, 82, of Tucson, Ariz., passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, with her family at her side.

Zora was born on May 22, 1927, in Kalkaska County, to Milton and Ila (Sieting) Six. Zora married Harold O. Belcher on Oct. 5, 1947, in Kalkaska, where together they raised three children.

Zora loved sports and activities including snowmobiling, boating, water skiing, bowling, basketball, hiking, traveling in her mini and working at national parks. Her favorite national park was the Grand Canyon with its vast beauty. Zora competed in the Senior Olympics in billiards and pinochle. Having pitched on a softball league, she especially enjoyed following the Diamondbacks and Tigers.

For the last 34 years, Zora was drawn to the sunshine and dry climate of Arizona and had lived in Tucson since 2005, where she was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Zora traveled across the country, often with her canine companions, to be with family and friends.

Surviving are her loving children, Sandra Spencer of Rapid City, Kris Belcher of Traverse City and Craig Belcher and his wife, Linda Vienneau of Madison, N.H.; her sister, Beatrice Campbell; brother, Leo Six; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Zora in death were her parents; her husband, Harold; brother, Francis Arlo Six; and sisters, Ruth Kniss and Vada Bloom.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at 11 a.m., at the Kalkaska United Methodist Church.

With Zora's great love for the national parks and animals, the family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the National Park Foundation, 1201 Eye St. NW, Ste. 550B, Washington, DC 20005; www.nationalparks.org or to the ASPCA (American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), Attn: Linda Tiramani, 520 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10018; www.aspca.org.

Arrangements were made by Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home, our family serving yours.
