W.H was the eldest of 6 children born to James Paulin and Mary Jane Powell. By the 1870s, the family had moved to Wroxeter in Huron County, Ontario. W.H. married Elizabeth Kerr on December 11, 1878 in Wroxeter and they became the parents of 6 children: Hilt, Vern, Mayme, Annie, Ada and Vera. W.H. was a plumber & tinsmith by trade and the family moved from Wroxeter to Owen Sound and finally to Simcoe where he had his own shop on Peel Street. Sometime around 1906 W.H. moved west to Manitoba. He lived for a short time in Souris and then bought a farm in the Boyne Creek area near Treherne, where his younger brother Wes was living. By 1918, he and Elizabeth had moved to the village of Holland where he built a home. His daughter Vera and her husband Alex Jamieson raised their family in that home. W.H. died of a combination of cancer and a heart valve problem. He was a very kind man who was much loved by his family and friends. W.H. was first buried in a cemetery near Treherne and was moved in the 1930's to the Brookdale Cemetery in Holland where he lies beside his beloved wife, Elizabeth.
A big thank-you to fellow descendant Debbie Paulin Dooley for sponsoring W.H.'s page!
