Olive HUTCHINS PETTIS was the 3rd wife of Stephen PETTIS. They were married in 1822 in Vermont.

Olive was born in North Hero, Grand Isle County, Vermont a daughter of Ashel Azel HUTCHINS and Anna HAZEN. Her parents are buried in Jerusalem Cemetery, North Hero, Grand Isle County, Vermont.

Olive HUTCHINS PETTIS was the mother of 4 children before her untimely death at the age of 30, shortly after giving birth to her 4th child Mary Olive PETTIS. Mary was born on May 13th 1829 in Mecca Township, Trumbull County, Ohio. Olive HUTCHINS PETTIS died 6 days later on May 19th, 1829.
Her husband Stephen was left with young children and a new baby which was too much for the family so cousin, Esther PETTIS DANIELS, wife of Stephen DANIELS helped to raise Mary Olive. Esther and Stephen DANIELS (no children of their own) were able to care for the baby at this critical time.

married Louisa B DAVIS lived in Le Sueur County,Minnesota.

2. Almira Olive PETTIS
married Hawkins JUDD as his 2nd wife lived in Decatur County, Iowa.

3. Polly 'Matilda' PETTIS
married Giles 'Nelson" WING lived in Adams County, Illinois.

4. Mary Olive PETTIS
married Sidney William 'Bill' DAVIS as his 1st wife.
Mary Olive PETTIS DAVIS lived only a short time after giving birth to two children: Lillian DAVIS and Charles Russell DAVIS livied in Pike County, Illinois.
