Fielding Thomas Glenn was the husband of 1) Amanda Margaret O'Neal, 2) Rhoda Ann Orchard, and 3) Sarah Jane Clark. Fielding and Amanda Glenn had the following children: Archibald A. Glenn, William H. Glenn, Lettie Glenn, Emma Glenn, Robert Albert Glenn, James Monroe (Jim) Glenn, and Irene Adeliza Glenn Thomas. There may have been children by his other wives. He was the son of Henry Glenn and Ruth Rhodes Glenn.
With the exception of two years prospecting in the west, he spent his entire life in Illinois. He was a farmer and also served as justice of the peace a number of times.
Fielding was in the Black Hawk War in a company commanded by Capt W.C. Ralls and attached to the Third Regiment. In the Civil War, he served as second lieutenant of Company H, 50th Regiment, Illinois Infantry, formed by his brother Samuel Rhodes Glenn. He served with his son, James Monroe Glenn.
Service Record: Enlisted as a Sergeant 1st Class on 30 September 1861. Enlisted in Company H, 50th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 30 September 1861. Promoted to Full Lieutenant 2nd Class on 27 June 1862 effective 27 July 1862. Resigned Company H, 50th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 19 March 1863. (bio by: Beverly Davis Valcovic)
