The Bandera Bulletin, JIM MAYFIELD DIED SUDDENLY AT HIS HOME TUESDAY,

Friends and relatives learned with deep sorrow Tuesday of the sudden death of Jim H. Mayfield, who passed away at his ranch home from a heart attack that day.

Mr. Mayfield had apparently been feeling well and had visited in Medina Tuesday afternoon. He returned home and as he sat down to his supper table, bowed his head to say Grace, was stricken with the fatal attack. His wife called neighbors, who came immediately to give assistance, but he was already beyond human help, and was dead before the doctor arrived.

Jim Harvey Mayfield was born at Medina on June 11, 1886, to early day residents of that city. He had lived in the Medina community all his life and was a faithful member of the Baptist Church. He was happily married to Miss Mattie Collins on October 19, 1908. And with her at his side lived for more than half century, a wonderful beloved husband and father to a kind and faithful wife and a fine group of sons and daughters. He was highly esteemed and loved by everyone with whom he had any dealings.

On August 9, 1958, Mr. and Mrs. Mayfield celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary at their ranch home with their children, and hundreds of friends who called to offer best wishes. They were married by the late Rev. H. L. Atkins, Methodist minister.

Survivors include his sorrowing wife, Mrs. Mattie Mayfield of Medina; two daughters Mrs. Frank Kammer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin;
Mrs. Lewis Keese of Bandera; sons, Durward Mayfield and Boyd Mayfield of Medina, Charleton Mayfiled of Amarillo, and Harvey Mayfiled Jr., of Helotes; one sister Mrs.Emma Banta, of Medina; 14 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, July 30, at 2 p.m., in the Medina Baptist Church with Rev. Elmer Graham of San Antonio assisted by Rev. E. A. Morgan, Methodist Minister of Medina, officiating. Interment was in the Baker cemetery under the direction of Plummer Funeral Home.
