Heinrich was christened in Lippe, Germany on July 30, 1826. He was born to Christian & Anne Marie Wessel Bloebaum. He came over to the US from Bremmen on the ship President Smidt arriving in New Orleans on October 27, 1852 at the age of 26 years and was listed as a Peasant Farmer on the manifest. Heinrich Bloebaum started as a shoe cobbler. He became owner of Henry Bloebaum & Co. which had many houses, stocks, and investments in St. Louis. He also was co-owner with William J. Brocker in a grocery store venture. He was worth about $90,000.00 when he died (or 2,370,000.00 dollars in 2010 worth).
