Susan Whitefield was the daughter of John Toler Whitefield and Elizabeth Thomas. Susan married Luther Clark 16 July 1829 in White Co, Tennessee.

The Clark, Whitefield and Allison Family traveled from North Carolina to Tennessee together. Some moved on into Arkansas and Hamilton Co, Illinois. Luther and Susan stayed in Tennessee after they married.
