WOODVILLE REPUBLICAN JULY 14, 1901
The community has been saddened by the untimely death of Mrs. Sydney Ross Jones, which occurred on Thursday evening, at 2 o'clock, at the home of her parents, Capt. and Mrs. D. C. Bramlette, and her remains were laid to rest in the new cemetery at this place yesterday. Having passed her life here, there are many friends to mourn her loss. To those who knew her more intimately her death is not only a sorrow, it is a loss of one of the precious lives-the salt of the earth. Possessed of a character absolutely truthful, bold for the right, pitiful of the weak, her life stood above the pettiness of human nature. No friend was ever traduced, no unfortunate harshly judged by those kind lips-her scorn was for evil, not men. Her intellect, which was of masculine strength, fitted her to adorn any position of life, but she cared to shine only in the circle of her home. She made more sacred the beautiful names-friend, daughter, wife. The deceased leaves a loving husband and little child, and devoted parents, sister and brother to mourn her loss, to all of whom we extend our heartfelt sympathy, and trust they may find consolation in God's promise of a future meeting in the great Beyond.
My thanks to Peggy Sue Dooley for obtaining this obituary.
