Airman Givens was one of ten Navy servicemen killed when a PB4Y-2 patrol bomber crashed shortly after takeoff from NAS Corpus Christi, Tex. AN Givens was a member of the flight crew.
AN Givens was the son of Edward Galen and Mary Helen Jarrell Givens, of Quanah, Tex. He also was the younger brother of future astronaut Edward Galen Givens, Jr.
