In 1820 John & Matilda are found in Hancock Co; 1830 & 1840 living in Marion Co MS; 1850 living in Jackson Co MS, John age 49, Matilda age 49, children, Sherwood age 18, Nancy age 12, James age 9, & Daniel age 7.
John's son, Wm Bryant was issued a land patent Oct 1851 for 40 acres in SE1/4 of the NW1/4 of Sec 5 T7S R7W, on present day Quave Road South of Vancleave Jackson Co MS.
There is an old abandoned Community [aka Entrekin] Cemetery [no markers] located on this land. A community church also served the area.
There is a possibility both John & Matilda are buried there.
There were eleven children born to John & Matilda, five sons who served in the confederacy during the Civil War, four were killed or died of the results of the war; Thomas Geather; R.[daughter]; William Bryant; Sally; Emeline; Sherrard; Martha; David L.; Nancy; James M. & Daniel Stanford.
