Pvt Caffey of CO H, 3rd Alabama Infantry, CSA was wounded on July 3, 1863 at Gettysburg. He died on September 13th of that year. His body was found at a 2nd Corps Hospital site near the Jacob Schwartz farm south of the cemetery on Baltimore Pike. For years the grave remained unmarked, but now he has a stone proudly bearing his name and the state of Alabama on it.
