Jason Daniel Owens, age 24, of Bedford, died Saturday, October 25,1997 near Wellington. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 28,1997 at the Quail Baptist Church with the Rev Bruce Howard, pastor of the Hedley Baptist Church, officiating, assisted by Rev Larry White, pastor of the Quail Baptist Church. Burial was in Quail Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home. Pallbearers included: Cory Thompson, Eric Thompson, Kevin Thompson, Jared Owens, Justin Owens, Chad Odell, Jeb Hudson, Tony Miller, Archie Stone, Shane Howeth, Ban Hudson, Paul Owens, David Gray and Brandon Herring.
Born on February 14, 1973 in Wichita, Kansas to George William and Patricia Wilcox Owens, he graduated from Ranger High School in Ranger in 1991. He was very active in the sports program. He went on to attend Howard Payne University and Ranger College. He enjoyed writing poetry. At the time of his death, he was employed by the U. S. Department of Agriculture as a peanut grader in Memphis and he was also co-owner of the Blue House Food Company in Bedford.
Jason and his wife, Christy, were married on July 8, 1995 in Quail. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Christy, of Bedford; a son Owens of Bedford; his parents, Bill and Patti Owens of Bedford; two brothers, Justin and Jared Owens, both of Bedford and his grandmother, Emma Mickley of Wichita, Kansas.
