On March 11, 2003, he was killed in a Black Hawk helicopter crash in a wooded area outside Fort Drum, N.Y near Wheeler-Sack Airfield. The Army soldiers had completed an assault exercise and were returning to their airfield when the crash occurred. He served in the 10th Mountain Division.
