Clarence Edward Boyer was born in Stratford, Fulton County, New York. He was the son of Charles Henry Boyer II and Maynetta A. Moon; also of New York.

He had sisters: Lena Belle and Hazel (Mrs. Burton Schuyler); a sister that died as a child: Mattie "Pearl", and a younger brother Lyndon Boyer.

He also had 2 half brothers: Howard and Harold Hayes.

After a family tragedy and divorce, Clarence was pretty much raised by his paternal grandparents: Charles and Mary Jane (Brown) Boyer.

Clarence later met and married Mary Serena Johnson, the daughter of John L. Johnson and Rose (Dick) Johnson of Utica, Onieda, New York.

They had several children; to include: Joseph Charles, Dorothy May, Kenneth Leo, John aka "Jack" (mentally challenged) and Clarence Raymond Boyer.

He left behind many grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren.

Clarence passed away from kidney insufficiency.
