Isaac Edward Grimm was born in Union Co., Pennsylvania, April 16, 1843 an died at his home in North English, June 4, 1918, aged 75 years, 2 months, and 20 days. At the age of ten years old he moved with his parents to Stevenson County, Illinois where he remained until twenty years of age, when the family moved again to Jones County, Iowa. In December of 1864,he was married to Hannah Kohl and they moved to Iowa Co., where they lived on a farm west of Millersburg until fifteen years ago at that time they retired from farm life, living in North English until his death. He is the father of ten children; seven of whom survive him they are; Anna Winegarden of Keswick, Ed of North English, William of Deep River, George of Brooklyn, Charles of North English, Francis of Deep River, and Connie of Deep River. Hannah Killian preceded him in death seven years ago, and two sons Albert and Henry died in infancy. Surviving are his wife and children, along with three brothers: Dan and Charles of North English, and Eli of Benton County, also one sister Mrs. Annetta Berger of Benton, County, Iowa. Also leaving thirty nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren to mourn his death. For a number a years he had been suffering from a peculiar affliction and in his old age it grew more serious and became extremely painful in his last months. Later on suffering a stroke that greatly affected his health and leaving him bedridden unable to move. Services were held on June 6th and burial was in the Community Cemetery west of Millersburg. He has always been fond of singing some of the old hymns, and almost the last conscious words he uttered were a rather faint singing of his most favorite hymn, "When I die my soul shall fly into the arms of Jesus" By his death, we lose a kind hearted, well loved citizen, one in whom everyone could trust, and whom everyone could call a true friend.
A precious one from us has gone
A voice we loved is stilled
A place is vacant in our home
Which can never be filled
God in his wisdom has recalled
The boon his love has given
And though the molders here
The soul is safe in heaven
