John Charles Anderton, 60, of Grinnell, Iowa, and formerly of Columbia died Friday, April 25, 2003, at his home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. in Columbia.
Mr. Anderton was born June 4, 1942, to Richard Jefferson and Mary Verdie Gaither Anderton in Columbia.
He married Lanna Beth Hood on Nov. 24, 1990 in Newton, and she survives.
He attended Hickman High School and was a veteran of the Navy. He began working for GTE in Columbia in 1970 and retired from GTE in Grinnell in 1993. He started Jala Computer Consultants in Grinnell in 1994 and began working for Iowa Telecom in 1999.
He was a member of the American Legion and Grinnell Elks Lodge.
Survivors also include two stepchildren, Scott Starwalt of Freeport, Ill., and Andrew Arthur of Grinnell; a sister, Audrey Petty of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Doug Anderton of Kingdom City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Richard, Orbrey and Lyle.
Memorials are suggested to the Grinnell Regional Hospice, 106 Fourth Ave., Grinnell, Iowa, 50112.
