George was a descendant of the branch of the family more commonly known as the Stokley Co., NC Branums, and generally they spelled their surname Brannum.
George W. Branum was the son of Loris Branum, who was named in her father, Benjamin Branham's 1822 Roane Co., TN will. Some of the children and grandchildren of this Benjamin Braham moved from Roane Co., TN to Madison Co., AL. And in a few cases they intermarried with the South Carolina Branums who moved from Smith Co., TN to Madison Co., AL as early as 1812.
