Stephen Joseph Goodpasture, 68, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Gardnerville, NV on March 9, 2009. He was born on Jan. 11, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, the first of four children to Cordell and June (Danner) Goodpasture. Of his many fine qualities, his devotion to his mother throughout her life and at the end of her life was exemplary. Stephen was a spelling champion several times in the Stockton School District in the 1950's. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1958 to 1964. He worked for Elmar Electronics, Advanced Micro Devices & The Altera Corporation in the Santa Clara Valley's electronics industry. He also worked as the evening disc jockey playing oldies music at the Blue Pheasant Restaurant in Cupertino, CA where he was known as 'Big Steve'.. Stephen and five other friends started the Blue Pheasant Hackers golf league in 1975 and the league still meets every week, 34 years later, at Blackberry Farm, for a round of golf. He also collected stamps, coins, die-cast model cars, and records. Stephen was a trivia buff and had an unequalled knowledge of popular music and movies. His last 8 years were spent in his home in Gardnerville, NV and on the golf course there where he played many rounds of golf with his good friend Tony Cruz of Reno, NV. Stephen was preceded in death by his wife Patricia McMullen, his mother, June and stepfather Robert W. Tilley. He is survived by his father, Cordell Goodpasture of Ada, OK, sister Colleen Miller, twin brothers Don (Joy) and Ron (Julie) Goodpasture, nephews Donald, Aaron (Mindy), Robert (Nicole), Ronald, David, Ryan, Darren, grand nephew Robert Goodpasture, Jr., all of Stockton, CA, and niece Jaime Goodpasture of Turlock, CA. Stephen is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in the Chicago area and So. CA and longtime friends Vic & Emily Lorenzi of Keller, TX, Matthew & Angela Miller of Monta Vista, CA, and Lloyd Perrier, Dan Wrenn and Gary Boyer, all of the Santa Clara Valley. Stephen will live forever in our hearts and memories.
