Melville Marcellus Stahl, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. G.M. Stahl, of Beech Creek, Pa., died at an early hour on Sunday morning, September 3, 1893, after an illness of about ten days. Aged 19 years, 10 months and 7 days.
This truly sad and untimely death, has cast a gloom over our little village. Not only is his loss deeply mourned by his near relatives, but by his associates and all who knew him. Although young in years, he certainly had felt the realities of life. His aged parents who survive him, had learned to lean on him, as he in youth had leaned on them. He was endeared to all who knew him, possessing a kind and generous disposition. He was truly unselfish and self sacrificing, continuing at his daily duties until disease had fastened a strong hold upon him. To his parents and friends he leaves a sweet memory, which will be fondly and ever cherished by them that loved him. The beautiful flowers presented, and the large number of people who gathered at the funeral on Tuesday, were the most significant tributes that could have been paid to his memory in death, in the shadow of sad affliction which now rests so heavily on the household which death robbed of one of its dearest treasures.
