George Ivan Ilgen, Cedarville
Cedarville, Ill. March 13.--Funeral services for George Ivan Ilgen will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Walker mortuary, West Main street, Freeport, the Rev. Aaron Wagner, Cedarville, officiating. Interment will be made in the city cemetery at Freeport.
George Ivan Ilgen, who died Saturday morning at 5:30 at his home here, after an illness of three months' duration, was born in Cedarville on October 2, 1856, the son of Louis F. and Susan (Woodring) Ilgen. He learned the carpenter's trade after leaving school and for many years was a building contractor. He was so engaged in Cedarville and vicinity, afterward in Freeport, and later in Chicago, to which city he and Mrs. Ilgen moved in 1884. The returned to Cedarville a number of years ago.
Decedent was united in marriage to Miss Permelia Smith on Aug. 12, 1876. The ceremony was performed in the home of Hiram Goodrich, at Pearl City. Mr. and Mrs. Ilgen celebrated their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary last August.
A daughter Cora, an only child, died at the age of 22. Besides his widow Mr. Ilgen leaves a brother, William, living in Chicago.
Mr. Ilgen was a member of the Lutheran Church.
