Mrs. A. O. Furst Dies at Bellefonte Home
BELLEFONTE, April 10--Mrs. Caroline Watson Chamberlain Furst, widow of Austin O. Furst, former Centre county judge, died at her home on West Linn street at 3:30 a.m. Thursday. Death was due to complications resulting from advanced years. Mrs. Furst was born at Milton on May 24, 1845, the daughter of Moses and Jane Hanna Watson Chamberlain. She was married to Mr. Furst, who died in 1906, on Dec 17, 1878, at Milton.
A lifelong member of the Presbyterian church, Mrs. Furst was active in the affairs of the Bellefonte church. She was also active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, organizing and serving as first regent of the Bellefonte chapter in 1895. A graduate of the Birmingham School for Girls, Mrs. Furst, at the time of her death, was the oldest living alumna of that institution.
Surviving children are John S. Furst and Walter B. Furst of Philadelphia and former County Judge James C. Furst of Bellefonte. Fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home with Rev. William C. Thompson, pastor of the Presbyterian church officiating. Burial wil be made in the Union cemetery.
