A Columbia man was killed Thursday in a head-on crash of two trucks on Highway 20 about 12 miles from Lexington.
Authorities said 28-year-old Herschel Cannon, resident of 2122 Denham Ave. and truck driver for Roy M Vick Refrigerated Trucking, was dead on arrival at Henderson County Hospital following the 11:15 pm accident.
The other driver, Jesse R. Cagle, 45, of Parsons was listed in serious condition this morning at Madison County Hospital at Jackson.
The Highway Patrol said Cannon, who was hauling frozen foods, was thrown clear of the wreckage of his truck which burst into flames when it collided with the gravel truck.
Trooper Ronald Kenner investigated the mishap.
Cannon's body is at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home at Hendersonville where services will be conducted at 1 pm Monday. Burial will be in National Cemetery at Nashville.
Survivers include his wife, Mrs. Barbara Cannon; two sons, Jim and John, and one daughter, Eunice.

Remains are at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Hendersonville where services will be conducted Monday afternoon, May 7 at 1 o'clock by Rev. Courtny Wilson. Friends will serve as pallbearers. Interment National Cemetery. Cole & Garrett Funeral Directors, Hendersonville.
