Wanda D. Vaughan, 76, of 302 E. Kent St., died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Erven Avenue Baptist Church. The Rev. Donald Evans will officiate. Music will be provided by pianist Gina Urbanec and vocalist Sharon Evans.
Burial will be in Defenbaugh Cemetery in Reading Township. Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews, Timothy, Kevin and Robert McGuire, Frank and Thomas Sass, Gail and Steven Rapp, and Daren Greenwell.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. tonight at Elias Funeral Home.
Born March 30, 1925, in Streator, she was the daughter of Arthur and Anna (Sanders) Defenbaugh. She married Verdane Vaughan on Feb. 19, 1944, in Ottawa. He died Sept. 10, 1990.
She is survived by a sister, Doris Schultz of Streator; and 21 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Thomas Defenbaugh; and a sister, Roma McGuire.
She attended Defenbaugh Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in 1942. After she and her husband moved to Washington state, she was employed by the Washington Public Power Supply System for over 18 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Erven Avenue Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and very active in the church's activities. She was formerly active with the Bootkickers and was a volunteer for the homeless shelter. She was also a former trap shooter.
