Early historic Texas soldier. Fought in the Battle of the Medina near San Antonio, 1813. Moved east afterwood but moved to Texas as a colonist in 1824. Fought on behalf of Mexico to quell Fredonia Rebellion 1827 but against Santa Anna's agents in 1833 Battle of Velsco.
Munson married Ann Pearce. In their family of 9 children, there was a son, Mordello, named for the Mexican officer who saved (the)life of H W Munson at Medina . Erected 1970

Henry W. Munson, was a well-known sugar planter and cattle-raiser of the state, and came to Trinity County in the pioneer period, Historical Review of South-East Texas and the Founders, Leaders and Representative Men, Vol 2, by Dermot Hardy and Maj. Ingham S. Robert, by The Lewis Publishing Company, Chicago, 1910 -
