Son the late Corbett and Gladys Fithen Alley, he was the widower of Eileen "Peg" Marks Alley (married on June 28, 1941, in Yuma, AZ). He graduated from Woodward High School and earned a BS degree in chemical engineering from Oklahoma State University. He served in the United State Navy as a aviator from 1937 to 1963 and attained the rank of captain. He received the Navy's Air Medal for the rescue of a pilot in the Bermuda Triangle. He was survived by one son, Mark Alley; two daughters, Diann "Happy" Elliott and Merle Lynn Browne; three sisters, Lois Kibby, Agnes Giddens and June Duggan; three brothers, Jack D. Alley, Eldon E. Alley and Corbett Lloyd Alley; and an extended family of relatives. His graveside service with military honors was held on May 12, 2008, with Melvin Rittenhouse officiating.
