Birth: Jun. 11, 1762
Stokes County
North Carolina, USA
Death: Jul. 5, 1843
Surry County
North Carolina, USA

He was the son of Charles & Sibella (Cummings) Angel. He had a few older half siblings, Mary Angel, Charles Angel Jr., Jamima Angel, Laurence Angel, and Barbara Angel, by his father's first marriage in 1751 to Elizabeth Washington, cousin to President George Washington.

1762 is the year used here because he wrote in a letter to the Dept of War. He could not remember whether he was born in 1762 or 1763. And since there is no record to verify there is no way to know.

He served in the Revolutionary War as:
Private under Col. Hampton
1st Sgt under Gen Rutherford
Private under Col. Campbell
His total time in the Revolutionary War was 11 months 15 days. Records are in the National Archives that prove this.

He was succeeded by; his wife and his 11 children from his will: Mathias Angel, Berry (Burry) Angel, Charles Angel, Henry Hampton Angel, Joshua Angel, John L Angel Jr., Lawrence Washington Angel, Sally Angel, Sidney Angel, Elizabeth (Betsy) Angel and Coty Angel.
