John married, 10 Oct 1850 in Cameron, Milam Co., TX, Barilla Reed, a daughter of Hiram and Polly Reed.
Father of Walter (or Walker), Dora Barilla, Mary "Ella", Rosa Belle, John C, Bettie Jean and Thomas McLennan.
Grandson of John McLennan & Catherine McKinnon and Mr & Mrs Laughlin McDonald.
John died in Waco, McLennan Co., TX.
Captured by the Indians about 1835-1836 and returned home from his captivity about 1845. He was known as "Bosque John". Folklore has it that he died when he fell from courthouse 3rd floor, Waco, McLennan Co, TX.

John McLennan fell from the courthouse door, at Waco, to the ground, resulting in death. He was a captive among the Indians from about the 1834 to 1847.
