Taken from Caledonia Journal-- Wednesday, August, 30, 1916

Frank Burg, one of the best known men in Caledonia, passed away Saturday morning at 7:45 o'clock at his home on Ramsey street. He had been ill for several months and gradually grew weaker and weaker until the end came. Deceased was born at Bisson, Luxembourg, Europe, on Aug. 16, 1844. He was a small boy when he came to this country with his parents who settled on a farm at St. Donatius, IA, where the family resided for several years when they moved to this county and made their home on what is known as the Burg farm, now occupied by Nicholas Burg. Mr. Burg was married to Miss Helen Schwebach On Feb. 6, 1873. They met with splendid success on the farm and seven years ago moved to Caledonia and fixed up a fine home in this city. Those who are left to mourn his loss are his wife and six children: Mrs. Philip Barthelme, Ossian, IA; James, Dubuque, IA; Philip, Nicholas, Katheryn and Anastacia of Caledonia. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Eugene Schwebach, Dell Rapids, SD; and Mrs Catherine Roeder, Granville, IA; and one brother, Michael Burg, LeMars IA; and 14 grandchildren. Mr. Burg was a man of exemplary habits. He led a good, clean and industrious life and enjoyed the respect of everybody whom he dealt with, and those whom he met in his every day life. His home life was an ideal one as no man could have been more devoted to him home, his wife and his children. His thought and interest in religion reflected the same high ideals. He gave generously, lived up to the teachings of his church and his life monument will remain as an inspiration for the good of his family, his church, his friends, and the community. The funeral took place yesterday morning from St. Peter's German Catholic Church. Bishop James Schwebach, brother-in-law of the deceased, was the celebrant of the pontifical requiem. The following priests assisted in the services: Fr. Kramer, General Vicar of Genoa, WI.; Fr. Wagner and Fr. Molter, of La Crosse; Fr. Borresch, Caledonia; Fr. Lang, Freeburg; Fr. Pikert, Dubuque; Fr. Wiemerskerchen, Hokah; Fr. Dolle, La Crescent; and Fr. Quiren, Dorchester. Deceased was a member of the St. Peter's Society and Third Order of St. Francis. The funeral was very largely attended. Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Mike Burg, LeMars, IA; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Schwebach, Dell Rapids, SD; Mr. and Mrs. Philip Barthelme and children, Vincent, Edletrude, Leo, Wilford and Quinten, Ossian, IA; Mr. and Mrs. James Burg and daughter, Mildred, Dubuque, IA; Mr. and Mrs. Philip Wagner and son, John, of Ossian, IA; Frank Burg, Litchen, SD; John Schwebach, Granville, IA; Mrs. Nick Etteldorf, Lennox, SD; Mrs. Harry Rahe, Dyersville, IA; Mike Welsch, Minneiska, Minn; Miss Clara Welsch, Winona, Minn; Mr. and Mrs. Roman Welsch and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Welsch, of Rollingstone, Minn; Philip Barthelme, Sr., and daughter, Regina, and son, Leo, Ossian, IA.
