Henry William Driever was born near Pleasantplain, Ohio November 23, 1867 and departed this life in his home Watonga, Oklahoma June 4, 1944, age 76 years 6 months and 11 days. At the age of 21 he moved to Iowa and three years later moved to Oklahoma, settling on a claim near Winnview in the fall of 1892. The Homestead was his home until ill health forced him to retire about four years ago. Fifty years ago last Tuesday, June 6, 1894 he was united in marriage to Mattie Clara May. To this union were born 10 children, 9 of them are still living, the first child having died in infancy. He became a member of the Lutheran Church when a boy joining the Community Church of Winnview soon after it was organized nearly fifty years ago, the church having been disbanded, he later became a member of the First Methodist Church at Watonga. He was a loving father, a devoted husband and a faithful friend and neighbor. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Mrs. Mattie Driever, 5 sons, Elbert of Watonga, Ernest, Chester and Earl of Hitchcock, Theron of Potacello, Idaho and four daughters, May Joslin of Chickasha, Ruby Bohr of El Monte, CA., Lola Kelley and Mattie Ragath, both of Watonga, two brothers John of Aurora, Oregon and Will of Hamburg, Iowa, six sisters, Mary Darrow of Watonga, Mrs. Sarah Winkler, Mrs. Sophia Rose, Mrs Elizabeth Winkler, Miss Anna and Miss Leana Driever of Hamburg, Iowa, 26 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held in the First Methodist Church of Watonga, Thursday June 8th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Fred Stolg, officiating. Keller Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
