My cousin was the son of Dr. Roy Grover Bubeck, Sr. and Marie B. Neese. He married Jean Margrete Stockdill. Roy and Jean were preceded in death by their infant daughter, Loretta Jean Bubeck. They also had 5 sons, including Michael Gregory "Mike" Bubeck . Roy later married Jessie Viola Brown on July 15, 1965 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan. They had no children.

Funeral services for Roy G. Bubeck, Jr. - a prominent osteopathic physician and civic leader here 31 years - will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Metcalf & Jankhoff 44th Street Chapel.

Burial will be in burial at Woodlawn Cemetary (sic).

Bubeck died of a heart attack while playing in a Heart Fund Golf Tournament in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Born in Kirkville, Mo., Bubeck attended high school at Winnebago, Minn., and took his pre-medical training at Mankato Teachers College at Mankato, Minn.

He graduated with distinction from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1944.

He completed his internship at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital in 1945 and began practice here at Grand Rapids Osteopathic Hospital in 1947, where he became chief of staff in 1949.

In 1953 and 1954, he was chairman of the hospital's Department of Surgery and from 1955 to 1958 was chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

His father, Roy G. Bubeck, Sr., an osteopathic doctor who died in 1966, later joined him in practice here.

Bubeck was a member of local, state and national professional organizations.

He was editor-in-chief of the Osteopathic Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1954 to 1959 and was a member of the American Osteopathic Society and the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons.

From 1950 to 1952, he was President of the Kent County Osteopathic Society. He also was a senior member of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Bubeck was president of the Michigan Board of Osteopathic Registration and Examination in 1952, 1957 and 1959.

Bubeck was elected President of the Michigan Osteopathic Obstetrical and Gynecological Society and served as vice-president and later president of the American Association of Osteopathic Medical Examiners.

In 1964, he was named president of the Michigan Osteopathic College Foundation and was re-elected President in 1966 and 1967.

Bubeck ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the Grand Rapids Board of Education in 1959 and 1967.

A past president of the Grand Rapids Junior Chamber of Commerce, he also served as a member of the March of Dimes Executive Committee, the Grand Rapids Safety Council and Grand Rapids Civitan Club.

He participated in Community Chest, Red Cross, and Y.M.C.A. fund drives, was past president of the Broadway Theater Alliance and was a member of the York Masonic Lodge.

In 1975, Bubeck accepted the chairmanship of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Des Moines College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery.

During his practice in Grand Rapids, Bubeck delivered more than 5,000 babies and performed more than 5,000 operations.

He is survived by his wife, sons; {edited for privacy of the living}; and 10 grandchildren.
