HOUSTON, Minn. Bethany (Betty) E. Gaustad, 80, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. Betty was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Bridge Creek Valley, Rushford, Minn., to George and Ella (Dahl) Gorder. She was a life-long resident of the Houston area. She married Alvin (Jimmy) Gaustad on Feb. 28, 1945. Betty was a true farm wife. She was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed doing chores; she milked cows for 45 years, along with tending the home and being a wonderful cook. She was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, 4-H, the Garden Club and the American Legion Womens Auxillary. She enjoy cooking, baking, especially making lefsa and gardening.
Betty is survived by her husband, Jimmy; a son, Larry (Debra) Gaustad, Houston; a daughter, Laurie (Gaustad) Nord and her fianc, Royce DeCook, Rochester, Minn.; one grandson, Adam; three stepgrandchildren, Jeremy, Becky, Chrissy and a sister Lyla (Mrs. Bernie) Gaustad, Rushford.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Richard.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston. The Rev. Lane Zaffke will be officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hoff Funeral Homes Houston Chapel, and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Stone Church Cemetery.
