Lester A. "Les" Auge, Jr
Birth: May 16, 1953
Death: Sep. 13, 2002

Professional Hockey Player. A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, Auge played the position of Defense for teams in the WCHA, AHL, IHL, NHL, Nat-Tm, and the WEC-A hockey leagues. At 6'00, and 190lbs, he played the Colorado Rockies from 1980 to 1981. He was also a member of the NCAA Championship All-Tornament Team in 1974, WCHA Second All-Star Team in 1975, and the NCAA West First All-American Team in 1975. One of his finest moments in his professional hockey career though was playing under hockey coach Herb Brooks at the 1979 World Championships in the Soviet Union, but was devastated when he was cut from the National Team in 1980 when they were to play at Lake Placid, New York, in the Olympics. He retired from hockey in 1982. He passed away at the age of 49, in St. Paul, Minnesota, during open heart surgery. (bio by: K)
