Della was the daughter of Albert Porter Towne and Lucretia Bigelow Adams. She married Horace B. Blake.
Obituary from a Umatilla, FL newspaper, March 10, 1949:
"Mrs. H.B. Blake, 77, died at the Lake County Medical Center, Monday, March 7, after an illness of three months.
"A native of Vermont, Mrs. Blake was a graduate of Vermont Junior College at Montpelier. She came to Eustis in 1939.
"Always interested in community affairs, Mrs. Blake has worked and held office in many organizations. She was president of the National Gold Star Mothers; served as chairman of knitting for British War Relief; worker in Civilian Defense; Red Cross; American Legion Auxiliary, Regent [1948-1949] of DAR Ocklawaha Chapter; president of Women's Auxiliary, St. Thomas Episcopal Church; secretary Eustis Woman's Club, Bible chairman for the Lake County Federation of Women's Clubs.
"Funeral services were held Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church with the Rev. A.L. Burgreen officiating. The William Zeller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
"By her own wish, she was buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Eustis, which she loved and served.
"Survivors are her son, H.W. Goodridge of Waterbury, Conn.; one grandson, H.W. Goodridge, Jr. of Bridgeport, Conn; one granddaughter, Mrs. John P. Shea of Waterbury; four great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Piper and niece, Miss Irene Piper of Worchester, Mass."
