Rosmino "Ross" Natale Barengo, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away, following a brief health issue, on June 21, 2011 at Renown Hospital. His unexpected passing has left his family in sadness.
Ross was born October 21, 1919 at Saint Mary's Hospital to Natale and Ines Molinari Barengo. He was a lifelong Reno resident, attending Orvis Ring Elementary and Reno High School. He attended the University of Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents, Natale and Inez.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Betty Barengo; sons Robert (Tamara) of Reno, Richard (Denise) of Nome, AK, daughter Rosemary (David) Pressler of Reno, grandchildren Andrea Pressler and Jenny (Ned) Peterson and great granddaughter Mia Rose Peterson. Ross was a veteran of WWII, serving in Europe. He was awarded the Merit of Comendation of "Commendatore" by the Italian Government and his name is recorded on the Society Rolls of the American Society of the Italian Legions of Merit.
Ross was active in his community as a Life Member of the Reno Elks Lodge #597, 50 plus year member and former officer of the Italian Benevolent Society, Life Member and former District Governor of the Reno Host Lions and an XNGH of the Snowshoe Thomson chapter of E Clampus Vitus in 1982. He was affiliated with numerous other community activities. Ross and Betty had homes in Reno, Graeagle, California and San Carlos, Mexico.
In San Carlos he was the Commodore of the San Carlos Yacht Club and President of the San Carlos Rotary Club. Ross will be missed by his family and friends. At his request there is to be no funeral service. A remembrance of Ross' life will be held at a later date.
