The celebration of life service for Ora Mae Drury will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fountain Lutheran Church, with Pastor Paul Forde officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Drury, 74, of Fountain, died Saturday (April 4, 2009) at Rochester Methodist Hospital, following a courageous six-month fight with cancer.

She was born Dec. 27, 1934, in Preston, to Frank and Mildred (Hutton) Ashton. She graduated from Preston High School in 1952 and from Hamline University in St. Paul in 1956 with a degree in medical technology. She then worked in the science department at the University of Minnesota. On July 21, 1957, she married David Drury at the Preston Methodist Church.

Mrs. Drury lived in Fountain until her death. She was a lifelong member of Fountain Lutheran Church and the Fountain Lutheran Church Women. In 1967 she opened Drury's Drapery Studio and remained active in the business until one week before her death. She also served on the Board of Directors of Drury's Furniture in Fountain.

She was an avid golfer, loved traveling and the natural beauty of southern Minnesota parks, and most of all enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to the monthly luncheon of the "52 Ladies" from her high school class.

Mrs. Drury is survived by her husband; a son, Michael (Virginia Nash) of Preston; a daughter, Michelle (Jeff) Redalen of rural Lanesboro; six grandchildren, Justin, Chelsie and Katelin Redalen, and Chad, Andrea and Shawn Drury; four great-grandchildren, Kendall, Courtland, Kane and Chloe Drury-De Boer; and a sister, Jean Strait of St. Paul. She was preceded in death by a sister, Karen (Robert) Wilson.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church in Fountain.

Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic cancer research or the Fountain Lutheran Church.
