The Evening Star, July 2, 1883: "The funeral of C.B. Lusby which took place yesterday afternoon from his home in Capitol Hill, was attended by Kit Carson Post G.A.R. and a large number members of other posts, who joined in with Kit Carson Post".

He served in the US Navy during the civil war, on the Admiral's Flagship "USS Harvest Moon", which was sunk by a confederate torpedo on March 1, 1865.

The son of William H. and Susan Lusby, he was born in 1844 and died June 27, 1883, at the age of 39 in Washington, DC. He married, May 25 1869, Mary Florence Phelps in Washington DC. They had no children. His wife Mary had a sister, Mrs. William Devine, of Leesburg, VA.

This photo of him in his uniform was found in his pension files. Prior to joining the Navy, he was a Blacksmith. After leaving the Navy he worked as a clerk for his father, first at this cemetery, then later in the grocery business.
