Carol Joy (Bland) Jackson of West Valley City, Utah, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at LDS Hospital of heart surgery complications.

She was born December 25, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ardith Marie Mathews and Claude Albert Bland. She married Myron L. Jackson on July 17, 1951. Carol is survived by her loving husband, Myron; they had one daughter, Debra L. Martin, her husband Roger and three grand daughters, Shanda, Kristy Maple and Tracie Yagi. Carol is survived by four sisters and three brothers, Bonnie Tessel of Banning, California, Beverly Taylor (Chuck) of Murray, Utah, Marilyn Pearce (Doug) of Taylorsville, Utah, Sharon Monfredi (Larry) of Kearns, Utah, Albert Bland (Shanna) of New Harmony, Utah, Jack Bland of Mountain Ranch, California and Keith Bland of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and her two devoted Yorkshire puppies, Taku and Nugget. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and one sister, Judy Warr. Carol was a talented person who went out of her way to help others. She enjoyed doing crafts with her family, traveling and just spending time with her family and friends. In 1995 she was elected by her peers as President of the World Clown Association. It was through her dedication and love for clowning that she set the standard for excellence in the clowning world. She is recognized throughout the world for her skills and abilities. The clowning world has lost one of its most devoted and best loved clowns. In 1996 Carol was honored by the World Clown Association as "Clown of the Year". That year she also started a club called the Jackass Club to help the World Clown Association obtain educational speakers to help others grow in their chosen field of clowning.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 17, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the Valley View Funeral Home Chapel, 4335 West 4100 South. The family will receive friends at a viewing Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, and from 10:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Jackass Club is requested in honor of Carol. Donations can be mailed to Jim Gorgans, 18721 NW 149 Ave., Williston, FL 32696.
