Mildred Ireland Penn
Mildred Ireland Penn, 91, of Georgetown, formerly of Minorsville, died Friday, Oct. 13,2000, at Georgetown Community Hospital. She was the widow of William H. Penn.
A native of Harrison County, she was the daughter of the late John and Mattie Baldwin Ireland and was a retired Scott County school teacher who taught for more that 42 years. She was a member of the Minorsville Christian Church, Scott County Retired Teachers Association and the First Great Crossings Homemakers.
Survivors include two sisters, Ona Mae Hukill, and Alta Wood Cottrell, both of Georgetown; two sisters-in-law, Alice Kate Ireland, of Alabama, and Garnetta Penn, of Georgetown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Elva Adams, Lucille Courtney, Nora B. Brooking, and Verbal Lee Simon; and a brother, William Chester Ireland.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct.17,2000 at Johnson's Funeral Home, with Pastor P. Dean Rase officiating.
Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery in Stamping Ground.
Casket bearers were David Cottrell, Terry Hukill, James Adams
Georgetown Southworth, Robert Brown, Scott Duncan, William Hunter, George Lockard,Dean House, and Bobby Vance.

Mrs. Mildred Penn was my 7th grade teacher at Stamping Ground School in 1949. I was having some problems with my math and she pulled my desk to the front of the room, right beside her desk for about a week. Needless to same my math improve right away. Ben Calvert
